Relaxation

Relaxation can be discussed on many levels - including: physical, emotional, social, mental.

Physical relaxation

Physical relaxation is related to the fact that excessive physical tension raises discomfort. Excessive physical stress is manifested inter alia with too much skeletal muscle rigidity.

Stiffness in the muscles of course, do not correspond to the fit and shaped body, but is obstructing the free circulation of blood and lymph flow of nerve impulses. Muscle stiffness is derived essentially from the internal tensions that occur at different levels of personality - for example, emotional or mental tension.

Physical relaxation can be achieved by many different methods and activities.
For example, monotonous, rhythmic pulsation (hitting the floor with your heels slightly while standing) for about 5 min loosens tension of the body. This results in relaxation and unlocking physical stress, so we can experience well-being and overall comfort of the body.

A very good example of relaxation that restores the comfort on both the physical and emotional level is Jacobson method. Jacobson led numerous studies on the linkage between stress of the muscle tissue coming from emotions and health. It showed a very high correlation between these areas (muscle tension - emotions - health). In his studies he used measurement of electric potentials of muscles.
He developed a method consisting in alternate tightening and loosening these groups of muscles, which are controlled by our will. In this way, we influence our emotions - bringing the state of harmony, comfort and well-being.

Of course, there may be a number of other methods of achieving physical relaxation - such as massage, massage beds, Spa, relaxation pool, relaxation, sport etc.

Emotional relaxation

While the physical relaxation seeks a balance between arousal and inhibition (between tension and loosening) in the area of our muscles, the emotional relaxation seeks the harmony in the sphere of our emotions.
Both emotional apathy, and stress stimulation are usually not optimal.

Apathy is a state of depression and emotional ill-being. In contrast, exaggerated emotional boost from a negative as it can be manifested forms of aggression - because they are not favorable.
Similarly, however, exaggerated positive emotional stimulation may be a problem: despite the fact that it is positive - after a period of time it can lead to emotional exhaustion and the shortage of well-being.

This is similar to the state of chronic muscle tension. It is the state contrary to loosening muscles, the most optimal state is the state of optimal muscular tension – which reveals the flexibility and elasticity of muscles.

The same is the excitement - to the state of emotional balance between apathy and extreme leverage - state manifested in a constant feeling of vitality and well-being.
